Tyson Fury, the WBC heavyweight world champion, hinted that he would require elbow surgery, possibly delaying a unification match with Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine early in the next year.
Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury’s rematch is likely to be postponed due to elbow injury concerns
After stopping championship contender Derek Chisora in the 10th round on Saturday, the Briton admitted to having a right elbow injury to ESPN television.
“I have some issues with my hands, and I may need to have elbow surgery, but after that, I’m ready for anyone,” “he stated.
“I need to have the left (elbow) done because I had it done in October 2021 after the Wilder III bout. The recovery period will be between six and eight weeks.
We will determine when we are prepared for this battle and when it may be made.”

The WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO champion Usyk was rumoured to face Fury towards the tail end of February or early in March, according to Fury’s promoters Bob Arum and Frank Warren.
Adding to the uncertainty, the undefeated WBC champion told reporters at a post-fight press conference that he felt terrific and was looking forward to a “massive 2023″.
Usyk, who was watching the bout from the stands at London’s Tottenham Hotspur stadium, was teased by Fury and urged to start fighting.
If a bout with Usyk could not be set up, the British fighter added that he would fight his unbeaten countryman Joe Joyce, the super-heavyweight silver medalist from the 2016 Olympics, at Wembley.
