Novak Djokovic’s wife took a dig at the tennis magazine with a series of tweets
Novak Djokovic’s wife took a dig at the tennis magazine with a series of tweets, Recently, Djokovic was supposed to enter the Canada Open, but he was unable to travel due to non-vaccination against Covid-19. Tennis magazine took a dig at him saying, why did he enter the Canadian Open when he knew he cannot fly to Canada? His wife took her official Twitter handle to aim the tennis magazine for taking on him. The publication told Jelena Djokovic that her husband should withdraw from the US Open also.
On Thursday, Djokovic withdrew from the Montreal tournament in Canada Open that was due on Monday. The Racquet Magazine took out their official Twitter handle to give their take on the withdrawal, they stated ” Why does this guy keep on entering tournaments hoping that they will change their rules for him.”
Jelena replied to the magazine tweet
Jelena took exception and replied to the post which has more than 2000 likes. She replied ” Is this the international magazine? WOW. With shocked emojis.
Later Racquet magazine responded to her tweet saying they hope her husband will change his vaccination stance to appear in the US Open.
They tweeted ” Hey Jelena, we’d love to see your husband play in the US Open New York with the rest of the tennis world. Maybe he’ll decide he can follow rules.”
However, Jelena was only interested in replying to their original tweet so, she continued the conversation to 1st tweet saying ” Hi, Based on the rules and ranking in tennis- Novak’s entry was automatic in the tournament. So, what was the logic for your tweet?.”
Then the series of tweets were followed as:
Djokovic has won 3 US Opens, but unless the US does not relax the Covid-19 restrictions, he will not be allowed to play. Maybe he has to wait to compete in another grand slam.
