Siberian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has won his 21st Grand Slam title. Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios of Australia 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 in the Wimbledon final played on Sunday. Novak is now just 1 step behind Spanish star Rafael Nadal in terms of winning the most Grand Slam singles titles. Rafael has 22 Grand Slams so far. Roger Federer, who has won 20 titles, has slipped to third place.
Novak did not have a good start in the final. Australian player won the first set 6-4. Novak Djokovic dominated the next two sets. The fourth set tied at 6-6. Here Novak won the tiebreaker and won the Wimbledon 2022. It is his fourth consecutive and seventh overall title.
Novak has played the most Grand Slam finals
He has also become the player to play the most Grand Slam finals. It was the 32nd Grand Slam final for him. Djokovic has broken Roger Federer’s record. Roger has played 31 Grand Slam finals. Spanish star Rafael Nadal has reached the Grand Slam finals 30 times. Novak has played in the Wimbledon final for the eighth time. Eventually, this was the first Grand Slam final of Kyrgios’ career.
Kyrgios reached the final after Rafael got injured
