WWE took a step back after an epic opening night at WrestleMania 39. Night Two, on the other hand, had a lot of big matches and memorable moments that made this weekend one of the best in the company’s recent history, despite some questionable booking decisions.
Even though Saturday’s show was not as consistent, tonight’s show also reached a high level. But which one was superior? Let’s grade each match from worst to best at WrestleMania 39 Night Two and put it in order!
#3. Bianca Belair vs. Asuka for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair and Asuka had a great match after her grand entrance with the Divas of Compton. They did what WWE couldn’t during the buildup to WrestleMania 39 in the ring, even though a better story would have helped.
The EST of WWE showed mind blowing power as she suplexed her challenger outside the ring. However, it took a lot of effort before Belair prevailed over Asuka. The drama got really intense toward the end, which is what you’d expect from a matchup between two great actors.
#2. Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship
The headliner of WrestleMania 39 felt precisely that way. During the course of the 35-minute match, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns put on one hell of a show.
The two biggest WWE stars started out with big moves, but they calmed down as the match went on. Regular signature moves, including back body drops and mid-air powerbombs through the announce table, followed. The American Bad dream removed from numerous Superman punches and lances, while The Clan leader endure a Cross Rhodes.
When the referee was down, the Usos interfered, but Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn showed up to even the odds. After the stars of WrestleMania 39 Night One even hit Roman Reigns with their finishers, it seemed like Cody Rhodes would win. We thought so.
While Paul Heyman distracted the referee, Solo Sikoa, who had previously been kicked out from ringside, attacked the challenger. As a result, Reigns was able to score the winning spear. Despite the fact that the match was nearly flawless, what a significant opportunity was lost.
WrestleMania 39 was the ideal time for WWE to book The Clan leader to lose, with The American Bad dream super hot. His time should have come. Having said that, one of the best matches of the weekend was Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes.
#1. Sheamus vs. Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
The banger to end all bangers was featured on Sunday at WrestleMania 39. There was no match here; There was war. The triple threat of the best European wrestlers for WWE came through.
It was just as ruthless and hard-hitting as guaranteed. Deep within Chop City, we were. The match got better after some time as Sheamus and Drew McIntyre laid hard shots at one another and Gunther. His best friend collapsed on the apron when the Celtic Warrior struck him with 25 Beats of the Bodhran.
The Scottish Warrior did make a strong comeback with some big moves, like an amazing dive. However, Gunther powerbombed both “Banger Bros” following a Brogue Kick on McIntyre to retain the Intercontinental Championship, the best match of its kind: Slapping meat by large, meaty men. Big E is ecstatic!
