MI In the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) final versus the Seattle Orcas (SOR) on Sunday, July 30, in Dallas, New York (MINY) captain Nicholas Pooran’s scored an astounding century off just 40 deliveries.
The West Indian, who has been in excellent form all season, passed Quinton de Kock to finish as the tournament’s top run-scorer.
When given a run chase of 184 to win, Pooran took off right away. He started things off by hitting Imad Wasim for a couple of sixes in the first over of the innings.
The 27-year-old then took the SOR bowlers to task with some of the most daring stroke play in T20 history. He was very harsh on Dwaine Pretorius of South Africa, pounding him for 26 runs off his first five deliveries.
The southpaw needed just 16 pitches to claim the competition’s quickest half-century. Due to the injury to the regular skipper Kieron Pollard, Pooran assumed captaincy duties for the playoffs. Pooran also smashed the second century of the competition.
The West Indian made light of what appeared to be a difficult run chase in a pressure game by reaching the amazing milestone in only 40 balls. MI NY cruised to a seven-wicket victory in just 16 overs, finishing with the second-highest run-chase success of the season.
The table-toppers SOR, who had pursued 195 in their penultimate league match against them, received a favor in return, with Pooran finishing unbeaten on an extraordinary 137 off 55 deliveries. He hit an unbelievable 13 sixes and 10 fours in his mesmerizing knock.

Following a remarkable playoff run, MINY won the inaugural MLC competition. The team won the eliminator and second qualifier under the captaincy and batsmanship of Nicholas Pooran to get to the summit match.
The brilliant and brash Pooran, who willed his team to a storied triumph with his second T20 century, was the star of the show in the championship.
Similar to their IPL parent club, the Mumbai Indians, the team reached its peak at the ideal moment.
The first MLC season was a great success, with athletes from each of the six competing teams entertaining the spectators. With 388 runs scored in eight games at an average of 64.66 and a strike rate of 167.24, Nicholas Pooran finished as the top run scorer.
Trent Boult, who helped MINY sweep the honors, led the rankings for wicket-takers with 22 victims, including three four-wicket hauls.
