NFL top 10 latest signings
NFL top 10 latest signings : Several players have changed teams bolstering several franchises’ chances of contending for the Lombardi Trophy in 2022.
1. DENVER BRONCOS – QB RUSSELL WILSON
The Broncos acquired Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks for a package of draft picks and players. Wilson’s patented “Moon Ball” has helped him throw the deepest passing touchdowns in the NFL since entering the league in 2012.
2. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS – DAVANTE ADAMS
The Green Bay Packers shocked the NFL community by trading Adams to the Raiders for a 2022 first- and second-round pick. For Las Vegas, this move was incredibly impactful.
Davante Adams was the fourth-most valuable non-quarterback of the season 2021.
He finished as the highest-graded wide receiver in the regular season in 2020 and 2021. The wide receiver grasped 96.1% of his catchable targets in 2021, which was the second-highest rate among players with at least 100 targets.
3. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS – KHALIL MACK
The Chargers entered the offseason with a rank of top-five among offseason assets between salary cap space and the 2022 NFL Draft selections. Acquiring Mack from the Chicago Bears was a sign of aggressiveness.
4. CINCINNATI BENGALS – ALEX CAPPA AND TED KARRAS
The Cincinnati Bengals’ biggest need entering the offseason was the offensive line.
It didn’t take long for the Bengals to immediately announce a four-year, $40 million deal with Cappa, who was ranked ninth among right guards in PFF grade in the last season. They also signed Karras for three years for $18 million. Ted Karras is a marvelous player who has experience at all three positions along the interior offensive line.
5. LOS ANGELES RAMS – ALLEN ROBINSON II
The defending Super Bowl champions lost the edge defender Von Miller, but they managed to bring in Robinson.
Robinson has been known for bailing out poor quarterback play and delivering inaccurate throws. Robinson is in the top 10 in the NFL in inaccurate receptions since 2018.
In his four years with the previous team, the Bears, Robinson has been a top-15-graded receiver in the league and was ranked fourth in drop rate (2.5%).
6. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS – J.C. JACKSON
Jackson, who holds a position in the top-10 grade among cornerbacks in the 2021 season, was signed for five years – $82.5 million with $40 million guaranteed.
His presence gives head coach Brandon Staley a great cornerback who can play man coverage when needed.
7. CLEVELAND BROWNS – WR AMARI COOPER
The Browns’ wide receiver squad looked bleak one week ago. Cleveland traded for Cooper, which cost them just a fifth-round pick. While Cooper still has three years remaining of his five-year with a $100 million deal, the Browns have no guaranteed money for the wide receiver. This move doesn’t have many risks, as Cooper is one of the best route-runners in the game. The 27-year-old wide receiver stands in the 78th percentile in separation rate against single coverage
8. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS – WR RUSSELL GAGE
Gage was the most underrated free agent receiver and is now set to join the Buccaneers. He gets the opportunity to form a trio with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans who are the best in the NFL, when healthy.
9. BUFFALO BILLS – VON MILLER
Buffalo made one of the biggest moves of free agency by signing a six-year, $120 million deal with Miller. On paper, this seems like a bad deal to have with a 33-year-old pass-rusher, but Miller is not any ordinary old pass-rusher, and the contract is made so that Buffalo can easily get out from it after a few years if needed.
In 2021, Miller was produced at an elite level in his Super Bowl run with the Los Angeles Rams. The 91.2 PFF grade of Miller was the third-best at the position behind Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby. It was also the ninth season out of 10 for Miller in which he produced an elite PFF grade above 90.0. He always showed up when it mattered most, producing the highest grade of any defender partaking (93.0). He may not be as proficient and efficient as he was when he was in his prime, but still, he is one of the most technically refined players in the position. His down-to-down pass-rush plan is quite masterful and makes him a must-watch for all the aspiring NFL pass-rushers at the collegiate and high school levels.
10. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS – GUARD SHAQ MASONTom Brady was not in a situation to be able to convince Cappa to return to Tampa Bay as the top-10 graded right guard already had made his way towards the Bengals, leaving a vital vacuum along the Bucs’ offensive line. However, the Buccaneers traded Mason as a fifth-round pick to the New England Patriots. He is one of the 10 highest-graded guards in the NFL every season. The Buccaneers managed to upgrade themselves at the position for a Day 3 pick.
