Despite being forced to sit out Brazil’s second World Cup game to receive treatment for an ankle injury, Neymar will still be with the team, the team doctor announced on Friday.
Neymar will miss Brazil’s second World Cup match due to an injury
Neymar will not be able to play against Switzerland on Monday, according to Rodrigo Lasmar, who stated scans on his right ankle revealed the athlete has a ligament damage.
As Lasmar noted, “the aim is to have him recuperate” in time to still participate in the competition. It’s a very important to stay calm, an evaluation will be done everyday so we can have more knowledge and data the most suitable decisions.
A rehabilitation timeline for Neymar was not provided by Lasmar. He said that Danilo’s injury to his left ankle, which caused him to miss the match against Switzerland, was comparable to Neymar’s. After suffering an injury in Brazil’s opening-round 2-0 victory against Serbia, Neymar was receiving medical attention at the team’s hotel on Friday.
In the second half of a challenging contest against Serbia on Thursday, the Paris Saint-Germain striker hurt his ankle. He sat on the bench crying, had ice wrapped around his ankle, and hobbled off the field to the locker room.
Not long after leaving Lusail Stadium without speaking to the media, Neymar posted on his social media sites, “Difficult game, but it was necessary to win.” Team, congratulations on taking the first step. To go are six more.
After the game, Neymar sent a note on Instagram with the hashtag “have trust” in it.
Neymar was substituted in the 79th minute, around 10 minutes after getting hurt on a challenge by Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovi. Neymar had already been assaulted several times throughout the game, and on a couple more occasions, he was seen giggling and stumbling. He had nine fouls during the first round of group stage games, which was the most of any World Cup player.
Among the several ailments he has sustained during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Neymar has previously experienced issues with his right foot. He missed the 2019 Copa América, which Brazil won, due to yet another ankle sprain, this time on his right.
