Team India kicked off the new year on a high note by defeating Sri Lanka, the Asia Cup champions at the moment, in both the Twenty20 and One-Day International formats. After a fifty-over whitewash against Sri Lanka, India will now attempt to extend its white-ball cricket winning streak against New Zealand.
India and New Zealand will compete in three Twenty-Twenty-Innings (T20Is) and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Due to his leave, KL Rahul was not selected for either squad, and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are still not in the T20I squad. For the first time since July 2021, wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat was included in the ODI squad, and Prithvi Shaw was recalled to the T20I squad.
In the upcoming New Zealand series, India will play the Black Caps in their second white-ball match in less than two months. After the conclusion of the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia, India traveled to New Zealand in November 2022 to play three Twenty20 Internationals and as many One-Day Internationals.
For Indian players, this series will be significantly more difficult than the Sri Lankan one. A few months ago, India was humiliated by New Zealand in New Zealand. They would seek retribution for the demise of that series. Additionally, this time around, they will field a team with full strength.
