Neeraj Chopra scripted yet another history in the diamond league : The Indian Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra scripted history on August 26, 2022. He became the first Indian ever to clinch a diamond League meeting title by winning Lausanne’s leg. Last month the 24-year-old Neeraj was held out of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 due to a minor groin injury. He suffered from a groin injury by winning a silver medal during the world championships last month.
Reaching 89.08 m in his first attempt to win the silver medal for the World Championship. Later he was rested for a month and rehabilitated, but it looks like the injury did not happen at all. After his form in the diamond league, he managed to continue his vintage form before the injury. 89.08 M throw is the third best career effort, his second best throw measure at 85.18 m. His 4th throw was considered foul after he passed his 5th attempt before coming up with his sixth and last round. With 80.4m only the top 3 throws after the 5th round to get to the 6th round.

24-year-old youngsters from Khandra village near Panipat in Haryana become the first ever Indian to win the Diamond League crown. Before him, Vikas Gowda’s discus thrower was the only Indian to finish in the top 3 in the Diamond League. He finished second twice in New York in 2012 and 2014 in Doha. Also, 3rd on two occasions Shanghai and Eugene in 2015.
After the event, Chopra said ” I am delighted with the result tonight. 89.08m is a great performance. I am especially pleased after coming back from an injury and tonight was a good indicator that I have recovered. I had to recover for the Diamond League, for which I had to skip Commonwealth games and I was a bit nervous. Today has given me a lot of confidence to finish the season on a high note with a strong performance in the Zurich DL final.
