Olympic gold winner Neeraj Chopra returned to the Diamond League with a massive throw that broke his earlier mark. At the current tournament in Stockholm, Sweden, the great athlete recorded 89.94m in his first try to create a new national mark. The 24-year-old broke the previous mark of 89.30m, which he established in Turku at the Paavo Nurmi Games. His efforts resulted in his finishing second in the tournament.
Neeraj Chopra breaks a national record with a massive throw
In his second effort, the 24-year-old threw 84.37m, placing him second among the participants. Anderson Peterson of Grenada finished first after breaking the 90m barrier on his third try. He threw the javelin 90.31 metres away.
Neeraj shot 87.46 metres on his third throw, keeping him in second place. The two competitors competed neck and neck, with Neeraj recording 84.77m in his fourth try and Anderson finishing just ahead of the Indian with 85.03m.
Neeraj threw 86.67m in his fifth try, whereas Julian Weber of Germany took third with an 89.08m throw. He knocked Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch off the top rank. So far, the Czech has taken third position with a remarkable 88.59m throw in his first try.
Neeraj went on to finish second in the event with an 86.64m throw. Anderson finished first with a distance of 90.31m, whereas Weber finished third with a distance of 80m on his final effort.
Neeraj Chopra is the talented Olympic javelin throw champion from India. Chopra, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army, is India’s first Olympic gold medalist in track and field. Neeraj Chopra is the first Javeline throw champion to earned title at the IAAF World U20 Championships, in which he established a global u20 milestone throw of 86.48 metres in 2016, and was the first Indian participant to do so. Chopra comes from the Haryana Ror community.
