Ahead of the 2017 Big Bash League (BBL) season, Australia’s record-breaking off-spinner Nathan Lyon’s has moved from the Sydney Sixers to the Melbourne Renegades. After eight seasons with the Sixers, the veteran will change teams.
The 36-year-old, who made his Sixers debut in the 2014 season, has taken 42 victims in 34 games. Adam Zampa, who left the Melbourne Stars, will also join him in the organization.
Lyon identified one of his motivations for joining the Renegades as the fact that he had some fantastic friends there. The Renegades, he added, have a well-trained team. As reported by cricket.com.au, he stated:
“I’m overjoyed to be a member of the Melbourne Renegades. One of the reasons I wanted to go down was because I had some pretty good friends who play for the Melbourne Renegades. I’ve played a lot of local and international cricket with a solid bunch of the senior players there, and when you add that to the younger players scattered over the roster, I think you have a fairly potent team.”
The bowler from New South Wales is presently recovering from a calf injury sustained during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s. Prior to that, he was in excellent shape, and his eight kills contributed to Australia’s victory over England at Edgbaston.
