Nadal Academy now Welcomes Fresh Addition! Rafael Nadal for his Mallorca academy Nadal welcomed a fresh addition this week. He got selected by his peers for the prestigious 2021 Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award in December last year the newly crowned champion of the Australian Open has now accepted the hardware in Spain.
The trophy of 2021 got the pride of place in the Rafa Nadal Museum of the academy, along with his four earlier sportsmanship awards. For the First time, he received this accolade in 2010. Well, this fantastic Grand Slam champion of 21-time has now got selected, finally to receive the honor for the four consecutive years.
Nadal said during the announcement of the 2021 ATP Awards, “I can’t be happier to receive one more time the Sportsmanship Award from my colleagues on the Tour”.
“It means a lot to me, so thanks a lot to every player that thinks that I am the right one to receive this award.” “Honestly, it means a lot to me because I try to be always correct on the court. Thanks for believing in me, and I wish all the very best for the 2022 season to all my colleagues on the Tour I hope to see you soon.”
The Melbourne ATP 250 is another title won by Nadal in January 2022, now also gone for the display in the said museum.
In total, the 35-year-old received this prestigious honor five times, the first one was in the year 2010.
The award is given to him to recognize his fair play, as well as professionalism and integrity on and off the sports court.
