At Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium, Mumbai City FC continued their winning streak with a 2-0 victory over Kerala Blasters in an India Super League (ISL) tournament.
The goals from Mehtab Singh and Jorge Diaz are way enough to secure all three points from the islanders. After winning the ISL opener earlier this month, this is the third consecutive loss for the Blasters. Last week the host made changes to the side that lost in Bhubaneswar. Victor Mongol took the place of the Ruivah Hormipam. UP front, Ivan Kaliuzhnyi dropped to the bench as Rahul Kannoly Praveen took his place in the line–up.
In Mumbai city, Diaz took the place inside the team in the playing eleven as Alberto Noguera rested for the match. After 21 minutes, the Icelanders took the lead in the game. The host failed to clear the corner as the ball bounced off a couple of Blasters players before the comeback of Mehtab Singh into the back of the net.
After ten minutes in the game, poor defending skills were shown Marko allowed Diaz to go one-on-one with the kipper. The goal came after the minute after Mongol had denied Lallianzuala with a brilliant last tackle.
The defence of Mumbai city trashed the few attempts by the Blasters. Phurba Lachenpa comfortably saved Sahal Abdul’s strike from a tight ankle before Rahul KP’s tame volley went wide in the 33rd minute. However, Kerala Blasters did safely in the second half. The host manage to put the Icelanders inside their half as the Mumbai city defence faced a barrage of Blasters attacks. The Blasters pushed the Mumbai city into their half but unfortunately fail to apply the final touch in the 18-yard box.
