Mohammed Shami, the ace bowler, has stated that he is doing all possible to recuperate from
an ankle injury and be fit for selection for the forthcoming home Test series against England.
The five-match series will begin in Hyderabad on January 25.
Due to an ankle ailment, the 33-year-old has been out of play since the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
Shami was unable to complete the South African trip, including the drawn two-Test series.
According to recent reports, the right-arm pacer would most certainly miss the first two Tests of the England series.
Shami reacted to a query about his availability for the England Tests while speaking to India Today after receiving the prestigious Arjuna Award.
I’m doing my best to be available for the England Test series, but test matches are longer and you don’t want to be in question, he remarked.
Shami also discussed his preparations for the T20 World Cup in June.
When it comes to T20s, I frequently don’t know if I’m in the game or not, he stated.
“However, I believe that the IPL is the best opportunity to gain momentum before the T20 World Cup, and if management asks me to play, I’ll be available.”
Before the England Test series, India will host three Twenty20 Internationals against Afghanistan,
the first of which will be played on Thursday, January 11.
Shami, like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, last played a T20I in India’s World Cup semi-final loss to England in 2022.

It is the most significant achievement of my life – Mohammed Shami

My family’s encouragement to follow my passion has been incredible.
I don’t have the words to describe how I began my trip from Amroha to Indian cricket. Passion is always present, and I strive to play as much as possible for the nation.
Mohammed Shami also established himself as India’s all-time highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cups, with 55 scalps in his 18 appearances.
This achievement places him sixth all-time behind Glenn McGrath, Muthiah Muralidaran, Mitchell Starc, and Lasith Malinga.
