The blockbuster final match of the MLC 2023 edition began at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas between Seattle Orcas and MI New York.
The ruthless side of Nicholas Pooran flattened a powerful Seattle bowling attack by a crushing margin of seven wickets with 24 balls to spare in the high-octane clash.
Earlier today, Orcas scored 183 while batting first, led by Quinton de Kock’s 87 off 52, with Shubham Ranjane and Dwaine Pretorius providing useful cameos. Trent Boult was fantastic, taking three wickets for 34 runs in his brief, but Rashid Khan was the star of the bowling department, taking nine wickets for three runs in four overs.
MINY went off to a terrible start, losing Steven Taylor early for a duck, but Nicholas Pooran came in and got into his act right away, chasing a tremendous score of 184 for the win. He bludgeoned his way to a 16-ball fifty, carried to an incredible hundred, and single-handedly carried his side to victory.
Brevis and Jahangir made useful contributions and scored critical runs, but it was all Nicholas Pooran tonight in Texas. The Seattle Orcas were the best team all season but fell at the final hurdle. Their bowlers performed admirably throughout the event but were completely outmatched by one man, Nicholas Pooran.
Following the conclusion of today’s final, MI New York has been proclaimed the inaugural Major League Cricket champions. Nicholas Pooran of MINY led his team to their first MLC title with a stunning 137* off 55 balls.

Nicholas Pooran obliterated the runs chart tonight with his 137* inning, which single-handedly won the game for Seattle. He now holds the highest individual score of any batter in this competition, as well as the fastest century in MLC history. He’ll end with 388 runs batted in, an average of 64.67 and a 167.24 strike rate.
Quinton De Kock leapfrogs Klaasen into second place with a superb cameo of 87 (52). He would finish the competition with 264 runs and an outstanding average and strike rate of 44 and 151.72.
Heinrich Klaasen falls to third place with 235 runs at an average of 58.75. His hit rate is a devastating 197.48, and he has one century and one half-century in this event.
Devon Conway drops to fourth on the runs table. He will finish the season with 221 runs at a 31.57 average, including his best individual score of 74.
Tim David falls to fifth in the runs leaderboard. Throughout the season, he made some important contributions with the bat. He’ll finish the season with 209 runs batted in, an average of 52.25 runs per game, and a strike rate of 167.2.
Trent Boult finishes first on the MLC 2023 most wickets list
Trent Boult has been impressive from the start of the first MLC season. He threw another match-winning spell of 3/34, solidifying his position atop the wickets chart.
He will finish the competition with 22 wickets at an average and economy rate of 10.36 and 7.39 RPO, respectively.
Andrew Type replaces Cameron Gannon in the wickets column to retake second place. His 3/32 numbers remain his best in the event. The Australian fast bowler will finish the season with 11 wickets at an average of over 21.
Cameron Gannon falls to third place, averaging 17.36 points per game while maintaining a good economy of 7.39 RPO. Ganon has 11 wickets in this competition, including his best figure of 4/23.
Saurabh Netravalkar maintains his fourth-place ranking in the wickets column. His 6/9 are the finest bowling stats by any bowler in the MLC’s short history. He finished the competition with 10 wickets at an average and strike rate of 15.9 and 13.1 respectively.
Imad Wasim advances to fifth place in the wickets table. He will finish the competition with 10 wickets, an average of 15.3, and a solid economy rate of 6.33 RPO.
