On July 26, the fifteenth game of the first MLC tournament began between MINY and SEO. Seattle Orcas emerged with a razor-thin victory by two wickets during a high-scoring thriller.
Ultimately, MI New York had 194, largely because of Pooran. He batted during the powerplay and dominated the opening six overs, at one point accelerating to 33 off 10 balls. His assault persisted over the middle overs as well, and when he and Pollard were at the crease, 200 appeared to be within reach.
They did, however, lose some of their momentum after that, but Boult’s two sixes and a four in a six-ball cameo helped MINY to 194, which is a respectable total on this surface.
Orcas’s powerplay overs saw them lose their top two players for just 37. Then Klaasen came out to bat, leading his team to the qualifiers with one of the best T20 innings. Initially taking his time, he eventually took control of the situation and sent the bowlers in all directions. Additionally, he ransacked 26 runs off Rashid in the 17th over, which ended up being the game-changing event in today’s match.
Let’s now examine how the foreign players performed in the 15th match between MINY and SEO
(MINY) Nicholas Pooran
Pooran once again showed his prowess with the bat, scoring a tenacious 68 (34) at a dizzying 200 strike rate. Through the middle overs, his swashbuckling innings kept the MINY run engine humming. In his entire inning, he hit three fours and seven sixes. He was pulled by Imad Wasim in the 13th inning after being duped by a loopy ball that was outside of the stump line.
Azam Hammad (MINY)
Azam struggled to get going and was run out during the seventh over following a terrible mix-up with Pooran. He was dismissed for a pitiful score of 2 (5).
(MINY) Kieron Pollard
Pollard batted 34 (18) fast runs, including four and three sixes. In the 13th over, while trying to boost the ante, Harmeet Singh dismissed him. In addition, he only bowled one over, which cost him 12 runs and produced no wickets.
David Tim (MINY)
David got off to a good start but was unable to continue. He was only able to score 18 runs off 16 balls, including a four and a six. Eventually, Harmeet Singh cleaned him up at the conclusion of the innings for a catch.
(MINY) David Wiese
Low in the order, Wiese made a useful contribution by scoring a quick 19 (13) before being run out by Hayden Walsh in the penultimate over. With only one wicket to his credit, he proved to be incredibly expensive with the ball traveling at about 12 RPO.
(MINY) Rashid Khan
Khan holed out to Gannon in the 19th over and was quickly removed for 2 (4). In comparison to his usual level, he was fairly poor with the ball, leaking runs at roughly 10 RPO while only taking two wickets, those of Jayasuriya and de Kock.
(MINY) Trent Boult
Boult contributed with the bat tonight in a rather unexpected way, scoring a massive 20 in the final over of the first innings to help MINY reach a challenging goal of 194. He was also excellent with the ball, recording 4/31 in the four overs he was given.
(SEO) Quinton de Kock
The first Orcas wicket to fall was De Kock. Rashid Khan removed him when he got stranded directly in front of the stumps on 9 (10). In all of his innings, he only managed to smash a single six.
(SEO) Shehan Jayasuriya
Shehan could barely last five balls and was unable to open his account. Rashid Khan tricked him into standing in front of the stumps when he broke his leg in a well-disguised manner.
(SEO) Andrew Tye
In his four-over stretch, Tye roamed all over the field and allowed 55 runs to score. At the cost of five fours and four sixes, he could only manage to take the lone wicket of Shayan Jahangir. At the conclusion of the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 4*(4) to lead his team to victory in a tight run chase.
