MLB Rookie of the month : Julio Rodiguez. Who is Julio Rodiguez?
Julio Yarnel Rodríguez is a professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic. He is the baseball outfielder for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball and he was signed as a 16-year-old international free agent in July 2017. He received a bonus of US$ 1.75 million.
He played at the Double-A level and then in the month of June, 2021, he was added to the national team for the WBSC Americas Olympic Qualifier by the world No. 7 Dominican Republic.
Rodriguez came out as a star at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where he helped his team to win the country’s first Olympic medal in a team sport. They defeated Korea, 10-6, in the bronze medal game.
The Winners for Rookie of the Month for June were announced on Saturday and he was named the AL Rookie of the Month for June. he won this for the second time after winning in May.
He is the AL’s first rookie to have received this award in consecutive months since Yordan Alvarez from Houston (June-Aug, 2019), and he is the first Mariners rookie since Ichiro Suzuki (2001) to win in back-to-back months.

On June 17 and June 21, Rodríguez had two separate three-hit efforts. In the month of June, he hit .280/.361/.542 (.903 OPS).
Mariners manager Scott Servais exclaimed his joy when he asked about Rodríguez’s June performance early Saturday. “I don’t think I could go into all the ways to describe it. Talking about how impressive it was just watching it every day, and the constant adjustments. … The adjustments he makes, the joy he continues to play with, I just hope that never leaves him.”

After a tough fight in April, Rodríguez has turned things around in the two months, emerging with a high chance to play in the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium. The AL field is ranked with outfielders – Aaron Judge, Mike Trout and Kyle Tucker, but Rodríguez is right behind them, ranking fifth in WAR.The 21-year-old made his MLB debut on 28th of May and has established himself as a big league player accelerating towards all the big games in the near future. The 21-year-old Dominican baseball player is putting together and displaying an All-Star season. Harris is the first NL Rookie of the Month Award winner from the Braves since Austin Riley won it in the year 2019.
