Michael Vaughan calls India the world’s ‘least achieving’ team:- Former England captain Michael described IND as the most ‘underachieving’ team in the world, which ‘doesn’t win anything’.
He claimed that despite having the skills and resources, Team India has not won any major titles in the last few years, which makes them ineligible.
Vaughan made these comments after India’s crushing innings and 32-run loss to South Africa in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion.
Rohit Sharma’s team had a disappointing 2023, which included defeats in the World Test Championship (WTC) and ODI World Cup finals.
Michael Vaughan calls India the world’s ‘least achieving’ team
“Here’s a question for you – India in terms of cricket, are they one of the least achieving sports teams in the world?” Vaughan said this on Fox Cricket during the Australia-Pakistan Test series.
“With all the talent they have… I think they do, yes. Well, they don’t win anything. When was the last time they won anything? With all the talent they have, with all the skill…
They’ve won here (Australia) twice, fantastic but the last few World Cups, nowhere, T20 World Cups, nowhere.
You go to South Africa, which is, you know, in Test match cricket and things like that.
“I mean, with the amount of talent they have, and the resources they have, I don’t think they’ll win anything,” he said.
Vaughan emphasized his argument when one of the show’s hosts pointed out how Australia had defeated India in the World Cup final, despite India being the better team in that match.
India to host England at home after South Africa series
The Proteas’ unbeaten run against India in the home Test series continued with a win over South Africa in the opening game of the two-match Test series.
India’s next Test match will be a home five-match Test series against England starting on January 25.
