Mitchell McClenaghan, a former New Zealand and Mumbai Indians (MI) bowler, has been appointed as the new bowling coach for the MI Emirates ahead of the second International League T20 (ILT20).
The hiring follows Shane Bond’s exit from the MI worldwide network, where he has just joined the coaching staffs of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Paarl Royals.
The hire comes after Shane Bond left the MI global network to join the coaching staffs of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Paarl Royals.
McClenaghan’s first stint as a coach comes after his final international appearance in 2018 and his last competitive appearance in 2021.
He had a successful career with the Mumbai Indians (MI), making a lasting impression with his aggressive bowling and pinch-hitting on occasion.
During his tenure with the squad, which ran from 2015 to 2020, they won four trophies.
Aside from McClenaghan’s appointment as bowling coach, the MI Emirates coaching staff has seen substantial changes.
Robin Singh, who was the team manager during the inaugural ILT20 event, has been chosen the new head coach.
Furthermore, Ajay Jadeja, a former India player who recently worked as Afghanistan’s squad manager for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Has been named MI Emirates’ new batting coach.
Vinay Kumar and James Franklin will return as assistant and fielding coaches, respectively, from the debut season.

Nicholas Pooran will captain the MI Emirates in ILT20 2024 after Kieron Pollard misses out
