Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2022: Fixtures, dates, and TV
Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2022: Fixtures, dates, and TV: You wait for one edition for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, and then almost immediately after that, there are two of them.
The eighth edition of the competition begins just 11 months after Australia won their first Twenty20 global title by defeating New Zealand in Dubai to claim the title. This victory marked the first Twenty20 World Cup to be held in six years.
What time is it?
On October 16th, the competition will officially get underway when Sri Lanka takes on Namibia. The conclusion is scheduled for November 13 and will take place after nearly a month of competition.
Where is it going to take place exactly?
The title will be defended by Australia as they are competing in their own country. There are matches being played all throughout the country at venues including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the Brisbane Cricket Ground (Gabba), the Adelaide Oval, the Perth Stadium, the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, and Kardina Park in Geelong.
How am I able to watch it?
The entirety of the competition, including each and every match, will be shown live on Sky Sports.
How does the competition even take place?
At the beginning of the Twenty20 World Cup, there will be two groups of four teams each. Group A will consist of Namibia, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands. Group B will consist of Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe, and the West Indies.
The first round, which is essentially a preliminary round, is comprised of groups, and the winners and runners-up of each group go to the next group stage, where they are joined by the teams that have previously qualified.
Therefore, Group 1 will consist of Australia, Afghanistan, England, and New Zealand, as well as the winner of Group A and the runner-up in Group B. Group 2, will consist of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and South Africa, as well as the winner of Group B and the runner-up in Group A.
After competing against one another in their respective groups, the top two teams from each group in the Super 12 stage advance to the knockout phases, which consist of the semi-finals and the final, which will take place on November 13.
How is it anticipated that England will perform?
Since Matthew Mott took over as England’s new coach for the white-ball team, the team has not done particularly well. They have lost their most recent T20 series against South Africa and India, and they will only have seven matches away in Pakistan and a three-match series against Australia to recover their form before their first encounter in the tournament, which will be against Afghanistan on October 22.
They entered as favorites in the tournament that took place the year before, but New Zealand defeated them in the semi-finals. They have the talent to win the whole thing this time around. However, they may use some victories to improve their confidence before everything gets underway.
