According to ESPN’s Todd, the Dallas Cowboys will lose OTA for a day next year after violating the NFL’s bargaining agreement.
The CBA doesn’t allow to conduct practices. However, the Dallas Cowboys participate in physical practice during OTA, this off-season.
NFL fined McCarthy and Cowboys – To Lose OTA Day
It’s the second consecutive year that Dallas has violated the CBAs rules with physical practice. The NFL has fined Mike McCarthy $100,000 for leading excessively rough workouts. He has received the punishment by the NFL for the past two years. The punishment call was taken after league officials saw a video of the team practicing.
McCarthy says “I had a good conversation with the officials.”
Apart from the fine, the Cowboys will lose OTA – organized team activity practice for offseason 2023 as a punishment for violating this year’s rules.
Last year, McCarthy was fined $50,000 and this year it doubled based on the video of practice. Video shows the intensity and tempo that displays players engaged in physical contests.
Despite losing one OTA this year as well, the team wrapped up their mini camp early on Thursday after two out of three practices.

The news of the cowboy’s violation broke soon after their camp was canceled, so they decided to opt for a team bonding activity. Nick Ralston revealed the activities by video on his Instagram handle. According to the video, the team spent the day at Topgolf. Also featured big names like Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs showing off their skills.
Like other teams, the Cowboys organized their minicamp for final tuneups before training camp starts. They are trying to pull up the build-off from last season that ended with 12-5. Cowboys are in the line for top target says McCarthy.
