Official Statement by MCC
Now MCC, Marylebone Cricket Club, and the lawmakers of the game have issues a statement on the run-out. In a statement, MCC says ” this change will formally come into effect from October 1, 2022. This is done to clarify the matter and to place an onus on batters. To ensure that they will not leave the crease at the non-Strikers and prior to the bowler releasing the ball.”
” The law is clear as it needs to be for all the umpires and is able to easily interpret. Throughout all the levels of the game and at all the movements in the game.”
” Cricket is a broad Church And The Spirit by which it is played is no different for anyone. As custodians of the spirit of the game, we appreciate its application is interpreted differently across the globe.”
“Respectful debate is healthy and should go like that. Where one person sees the bowler is breaching the spirit in such examples and others will point at the non Striker gaming and unfair advantage.”
“Then they leave their ground early and MCC’s message to non-Strikers remains the same. Until they have seen only the bowler’s hand dismissing the ball. Such as the one seen yesterday cannot happen.”
“This was indeed unusual and for the exciting match. It is properly officiated and should not be considered anything more than this.”
