MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores
MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: The weekend’s high school football action has been one of the best that is ever seen. It faced a huge upset as No. 14 Miami Central (Miami) took down No. 4 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) 20-14 in the beginning. This was the first time a team from Florida defeated the Ascenders since 2013. The American Heritage’s (Plantation, Fla.) won in the kickoff classic in 2015 but that has been counted.
The Rockets were at 14-6 at halftime but outscored the fourth-ranked Ascenders 14-0 in the last 24 minutes. LaWayne McCoy displayed the biggest play of the night and had a 34-yard pick-six to give the Rockets a 20-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.
The Ascenders’ defense emerged with a big stop and got the ball back with just over a minute remaining. The Rockets managed to intercept a pass to seal the game. Four-star defensive end Rueben Bain made a huge impact and finished the night with three sacks. But the Rockets are to make a huge jump in the upcoming week’s MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.
California playing against Texas took place at Allen’s 60-million dollar stadium. The No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellfower, Calif.) made a statement with a dominant 52-14 victory over the Eagles to start its 2022 season. The top-ranked Braves dominated at halftime with a 38-7 lead. They will be facing Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.) the next week on Sept. 2.
No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) managed to erase a 21-7 3rd quarter deficit. Mater returned to win 24-21 to reel off its 19th consecutive victory. Junior quarterback Elijah Brown enhanced his record to 19-0 and started his prep career. The Monarchs is going to be on board (No. 9 Centennial) on Sept. 2. The Huskies defeated Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 42-7.
Two other MaxPreps Top 25 games are being waited. The No. 19 American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) will be taking on Malachi Nelson and No. 25 Los Alamitos (Calif.). The No. 13 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) will face No. 17 St. John’s (Washington, D.C.). Both those games will take place on Saturday.
Other marquee games include No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) facing St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia), No. 15 Duncanville (Texas) facing South Oak Cliff (Dallas), and No. 3 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) will be taking on East St. Louis (Ill.).
