Mastercard signs on 4 badminton players as brand ambassadors
Mastercard signs on 4 badminton players as brand ambassadors: Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty have all been named brand ambassadors for Mastercard in India as a result of the company’s partnership with Lakshya Sen.
In their roles as winners of the Thomas Cup 2022 and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the new ambassadors will work in partnership with Mastercard to raise awareness about the ease, safety, and safety concerns associated with using digital payment methods in India.
The work being done by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the vision that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has for Digital India are both supported by this relationship.
Mastercard has made it one of its top priorities to educate people in India about the benefits and advantages of using digital payment methods. Mastercard’s South Asia Division President, Nikhil Sahni, was quoted as saying.
“Mastercard is looking forward to forming a partnership with Indian badminton talents Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty, who serve as an inspiration to millions of sports fans in the country.
“With the help of the new badminton brand ambassadors, Mastercard hopes to actively engage with millions of cardholders and contribute to assisting India in its transition from cash to digital payments,” he added.

According to the corporation, India has witnessed a more diverse landscape of sports, and Mastercard’s debut into badminton tracks alongside the expansion of India’s athletic industry. Mastercard made the announcement earlier this year that Shiv Kapur would be joining its top panel of golfers, which already included Anirban Lahiri in the role of brand ambassador.
Badminton has been added to the long list of sports in which Mastercard has a significant investment, which already includes tennis, cricket, soccer, and even e-sports. “The badminton ambassadors of today serve as respected role models to the younger generations, and they symbolise the hopes of a rising India,”
The badminton stars will be a part of Mastercard’s Team Cashless India campaign.
This campaign “works with merchants and cardholders to create awareness of the safety, security, and convenience of digital payments,” the company said in a statement. This role will be similar to the key role played by Mastercard’s brand ambassador MS Dhoni.
Mastercard is committed to assisting the Indian government in achieving its goal of creating a digital India and has launched a number of programs to this end. These programs include workshops on digital payments for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), educational street plays, knowledge sessions for farmers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and Team Cashless India to increase the number of merchants who digitize their processes.
