Marko Arnautovic: Manchester United pull out of the deal for Bologna forward after a £7.6m bid was rejected and ex-players privately expressed concerns
Marko Arnautovic: Manchester United pull out of the deal for Bologna forward: After hearing concerns raised in confidence by some of Manchester United’s former players, the club has decided not to pursue a deal to acquire Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic. Arnautovic is currently under contract with Bologna.
Sky Sports News reported the week before last that United’s offer of £7.6 million for the forward who had played for West Ham and Stoke City was turned down. Erik ten Hag has his sights set on Arnautovic as a player.
Although it was anticipated that United would return with a better bid, the club has instead chosen to move on to other potential acquisitions.
It was believed that the asking price that Bologna had for the forward was higher than what United was prepared to pay for him.
The sporting director of Bologna, Marco Di Vaio, attempted to put an end to Manchester United’s pursuit of Arnautovic by declaring that the forward’s value is incalculable.
According to Sky in Italy’s report from Sunday, United had a bid of roughly £7.6 million rejected by Bologna for the 33-year-old player, but the club anticipated that United will come back with a stronger offer.
According to what Di Vaio said in an interview with Italia 1, “We want to keep continuing with Arnautovic and keep him, as he is at the centre of our project.”
“Right now, Bologna’s top priority is to maintain our current roster and work to improve it so that we can have a successful upcoming season. We are not concerned about the money since Marko is invaluable to us.”
Ten Hag leading recruitment push
The transfer of Adrien Rabiot from Juventus to Ajax is being orchestrated by Erik ten Hag. Rabiot plays in the midfield for Juventus.
United has made every effort to get the players that Ten Hag likes, such as Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Frenkie de Jong, Antony, Marko Arnautovic, and Adrien Rabiot. United have also done their utmost to sign players like Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic.
Ten Hag passed up the opportunity to sign Georginio Wijnaldum, a midfielder who formerly played for Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool and most recently signed for Roma. The former Liverpool midfielder expressed serious interest in playing for United.
Memphis Depay, a former forward for Manchester United, is interested in making a move back to the Premier League from Barcelona.
United has reached an agreement with Juventus to acquire Rabiot.
The transfer of Adrien Rabiot from Juventus to Manchester United is “progressing nicely,” according to the club.
The negotiations with Rabiot’s mother on the personal terms of the transfer are still ongoing while United and Juventus continue to talk about the final elements of the agreement, which is rumored to be for $15 million plus add-ons.
It has been relayed to Sky Sports News that Erik ten Hag has a strong interest in the player and that there is “complete alignment” between the manager and the recruitment department with regard to the signing of the player.
United has not given up hope of signing Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder for Barcelona, but the club is growing increasingly unhappy with the hold-up at the Barcelona end of the negotiations. They are still looking at other potential targets.
However, despite the fact that the deal for De Jong has proven to be a difficult one to complete, they have not given up hope of signing the Netherlands international, and there is still the conviction that a deal can be reached.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, has confirmed that there have been proposals made, but he has also suggested that De Jong is interested in remaining with the club and that the club wants him to remain. Despite this, economic concerns continue to exist, and no decision has been made on De Jong’s deferred salary as of yet.
Throughout the entire summer, the central midfield has been one of United’s top priorities, and the club has not ruled out the possibility of acquiring both Rabiot and De Jong.
