Mitchell Johnson, a former fast bowler for Australia, has taken Mark Waugh’s place in the commentary booth for the remaining two Test matches in the series in India.
For the remaining two Test matches in the series in India, the great Australian batsman Mark Waugh has been replaced in the commentary box by former fast bowler Mitchell Johnson.
During his time on the job, Waugh had gotten into some arguments with his coworkers, especially Dinesh Karthik and Ravi Shastri.
After Waugh had criticized Virat Kohli for his slip-catching technique in the first Test, Karthik had taken to roasting Waugh. There was one time when the conversation seemed to take a little bit of an angry turn.
It is important to note that Waugh was appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) exclusively for the two Test matches from the beginning.
The former batter was brought in to replace Michael Clarke. The former captain of Australia was let go after footage of a rather public fight with his girlfriend surfaced.
When Karthik began asking him questions about their disagreements regarding Australia’s field placements for Cheteshwar Pujara. The exchange between Waugh and Karthik appeared to have taken a negative turn.
Waugh responded, “I didn’t know this was a press conference.” You will only be allowed one question per session, okay?
I will limit your questions. No longer. The third commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar, then intervened to read the score.
However, Waugh has stated that Karthik’s battles were “good fun.” It was merely conversation. He is the young team; modern players view the world in a different light than we do.
I can guarantee that everything was fun It’s positive. You must have opposing viewpoints. “It would be pretty boring if everyone had the same opinion,” Waugh said on RSN radio’s “Breakfast with Harf.”
To be honest, I simply did not agree with many of his viewpoints. He couldn’t figure out my field settings or anything else.
In order to bring some balance to the commentary box in India. I believe Mitchell Johnson will fill in for Matt Hayden in the two remaining Tests.
Additionally, Waugh had a few encounters with former India coach Ravi Shastri. After Australia’s first Test victory, Shastri had criticized Waugh for predicting that India would be whitewashed during their 2020/21 tour.
Despite missing most of their regular players in the last Test. India went on to win the series 2-1 despite being famously all out for just 36 runs in their second innings.
During the first Test of the current tour, Shastri stated in the commentary box. “I remember one prediction from Mark. India will lose 4-0 when we got all out for 36,” and the match was the first Test.
At the time, Shastri was India’s head coach. Quickly, Waugh replied, That wasn’t the only thing I predicted.
