Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga, eight points behind winners Bayern Munich.
They placed third in their Champions League group, behind Ajax Amsterdam and Sporting. And advance to the Europa League knockout rounds until being lost by Scottish team Rangers.
In addition, the team was ousted from the German Cup in January by second-tier St Pauli and they were lost by Bayern in the German Super Cup final in August the year before.
“This is a difficult day for all of us since our mutual respect was, is, and always will be immense,” club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke stated.
“After an unsatisfying season for a variety of reasons, we had to admit that we didn’t make the most of our possibilities in many areas.”
Rose joined Dortmund in 2021 from Borussia Moenchengladbach.
“Despite a challenging season… I felt confident in our direction,” Rose stated.
“Throughout our chat, I had the feeling that complete conviction of all those involved was no longer present.” Finally, we decided to cease our collaboration.”
Marco Rose is born on 11th September 1976. He is a former Borussia Dortmund manager and former player. He was a defender for Lokomotive Leipzig, Hannover 96, and Mainz 05. Later, he managed Mainz 05’s second team, then Lokomotive Leipzig, before moving up the ranks at Red Bull Salzburg. From 2019 to 2021, he was the manager of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
