Manchester City center-back Ruben Dias has sent an ominous warning to rivals that the Premier League title race has yet to begin in earnest.
After 19 games, City is third in the rankings, five points behind leaders Liverpool, but with a game in hand. Pep Guardiola’s squad is coming off a 2-0 home win over Sheffield United last weekend. as well as a 3-1 victory against Everton in midweek.
City is poised to seize control of the championship race with the imminent return of the injured quintet of Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, and Jeremy Doku.
Ruben Dias has issued a warning
Dias told the club’s podcast, “I think we’re beginning to feel ourselves again.” We had to come back down to earth after what we did this past season. Also, recognize the tiny things that permitted us to do what we did previously.”
We’re slowly getting back on track. When you relax, a drop-off arises out of nowhere. There are still flights to arrange, as well as responsibilities to do.
Dias went on to say that if City is still alive in three tournaments, February would be a crucial month.
“February marks the time the real action begins.” Obviously, you must have put yourself in a position to feel the stress. But, in the end, that’s when the important decisions are made. If you get to February in a strong position in the league and are still in every tournament, the big games will come up quickly.”
City’s sole competitive game this month is against Newcastle United on January 13.
Ruben Dias has been an important member of Manchester City’s squad since he arrived in 2020. In 156 tournament games, he has four goals and five assists while also being a rock at the back, preventing opponent advances.
Last season, the 26-year-old played a key role in City’s treble-winning season. He helped maintain 20 clean sheets and scored once in 43 appearances across tournaments.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, became the first person to win the continental triple with different teams during the historic season. It also became City the first English team to win the triple after Manchester United.
