Man UTD Star dropped by Erik ten hag after turning up to meetings late twice
Man UTD Star dropped by Erik ten hag: Following his departure from Ajax, the Dutchman has implemented a stringent system at Manchester United, but one player, in particular, has been made to feel the full force of the manager’s wrath almost immediately.
At Manchester United, Erik ten Hag has already demonstrated his authority by removing a player from the team as a consequence for arriving late to team meetings on two separate occasions.
This past summer, the club’s previous managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick handed over the reins at Old Trafford to the Dutchman, who is now aiming to turn the club’s fortunes around after the club endured a truly dismal season under the leadership of both of those men.
First step
The first step in that process was instituting stringent discipline across the team in preparation for his debut season as head coach, and it would appear that the majority of the players have already bought into the new guidelines. Having said that, not everyone has been able to catch up to the current pace just yet.
During the Red Devils’ tour of Asia and Australia during the pre-season, one player who has not been named broke the new regulations regarding the team’s approach to timeliness. This information was reported by The Athletic. It was reported that they were tardy to two different team meetings, and as a direct result of this, they were benched for a game that took place during the tour.
According to the article, Ten Hag had originally intended to utilise the player during the match; however, he decided to prioritise the rules instead, as tardiness was viewed as a sign that standards were beginning to fall among the group.
This attitude is, of course, not that different from the punishments laid down by United managers of the past; Ten Hag’s compatriot Louis van Gaal likewise handed out heavy punishments for lateness that was only a matter of seconds. Although not as stringent as before, the former Ajax schemer nevertheless places a significant emphasis on keeping to the schedule.
Pre-season
The Red Devils have had a successful pre-season tour up to this point, but it remains to be seen whether the newly implemented strategy for maintaining discipline will be successful. They have triumphed over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, and Crystal Palace in recent matches.
Despite their best efforts, the Red Devils were defeated by Aston Villa on Saturday. The team managed by Steven Gerrard came back from being down 2-0 to earn a draw, with Leon Bailey scoring an equaliser in stoppage time to leave United furious.
Ten Hag has stated that his team will need to take the information that they gained from that game into consideration before their first Premier League match of the season, which will take place less than two weeks from now against Brighton.
Interview
After the match, he gave an interview in which he said: “The first half was a decent performance, and we went into the dressing room leading 2-0. However, when we emerged from the changing room in the second half, we had control of the game, but we gave it away. The fact that that is bad serves as a valuable lesson.
“In terms of the players and the team as a whole, I believe that we have made a lot of headway and that there have been many positive developments. I would also say that, in the end, a setback, but it’s also a part of the season, a season is not always going up, you also have to have setbacks and have to deal with them, and a season is not always going up, a season is not always going up, and it’s part of the reason why.”
“They can have a lot of confidence because they are excellent, but they only need to realise that we have to work hard and play as a team in order for us to have good performances,” I told the players. “We will have fantastic performances when we do both of those things.”
