MALAYSIA OPEN: GINTING UNFAZED DESPITE 7TH STRAIGHT LOSS TO AXELSEN
MALAYSIA OPEN: GINTING UNFAZED DESPITE 7TH STRAIGHT LOSS TO AXELSEN. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting gave it his all against Viktor Axelsen, but it was not enough to win the match. As the Indonesian suffered his seventh consecutive defeat at the hands of the Dane, this time in the quarterfinals of the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2022, it was reasonable to anticipate that he would feel frustrated. This defeat was his third in the past four weeks.
Not that he ever admitted that it was his fault. Ginting, on the other hand, gave off the impression of a sincere pupil who had just finished an informative lecture.
“I’m trying not to worry about it,” she said (getting frustrated). I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’s to my advantage to be able to refresh my memory on how to play on the court with Axelsen. I still have room for improvement, and I have some preparation for the game itself to catch up on. Following this, I need to have a conversation with my coach about how to play the game and what my strategy is. So I guess that means that it’s good for me. I am able to continue my education indefinitely.”
“I’m not feeling depressed at all.”
Ginting got off to a strong start, maintaining his fast speed and intensity to win the opening game, but Axelsen’s consistency would eventually wear him down and cause him to lose. The Indonesian was in the lead with a score of 10-7 in the third, but all it took was a couple of shaky shots for Axelsen to take control of the situation in an instant. Even the foregone conclusion winners were brought back, and Ginting had once more come up against an obstacle.
Remarked
Ginting stated, “I believe that today’s match between us was very intense.” “It was quite difficult from the beginning till the finish, but I believe the deciding factor was the final game. Axelsen was on the better side, and he was able to play his strokes. I really gave it my all in the remaining minutes of the second game. I was victorious in scoring many points, but he held his composure throughout the game. He is very good at both defense and offense, in addition to his height and his ability to maneuver about the court pretty well.”
Axelsen, who is currently in contention for his sixth title of the season, was a contented man when the match was over because he had successfully closed every door that Ginting had attempted to unlock.
“Today’s battle was a very intense contest. Ginting did an excellent job in the contest. This is the third time in the past four or five weeks that we have competed against each other. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that we are familiar with one another. In spite of this, I cannot express how ecstatic I am to have emerged victorious in this match, especially considering the fact that the circumstances of this arena lend themselves somewhat favorably to the manner in which he plays the game. Despite this, I was able to exert a great deal of influence over it, particularly in the latter two games of the match. Therefore, that makes me extremely delighted. And I cannot contain my excitement over the fact that I will be playing again tomorrow.”
“I just try to take everything one day at a time, one match at a time, and one point at a time,” she said. And everything has been wonderful up to this point. I don’t have any injuries or anything else wrong with me. As a result, it is somewhat simpler to keep up with and to recover well, and as a result, I’m trying to put everything I have into it and play to the best of my ability. And I’m going to proceed in that manner.”
