One such important part of the IPL includes the umpires. The IPL is one of the biggest and most popular T20 cricket leagues in the world, attracting millions of fans from all over the globe. Due to this, it’s essential to have umpires who can make fair and accurate decisions and keep the game flowing smoothly. Here is the list of all Umpires and their salaries in the 2023 IPL.
The Indian Premiere League is not only the perfect platform for aspiring young Indian cricketers but also for budding Indian Umpires. For the year 2023, there will be a total of 12 Indian umpires on the panel for this year’s IPL, here as follows:- Anil Chaudhary, C. Shamshuddin, Virender Sharma, K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan, Nitin Menon, S. Ravi, Vineet Kulkarni, Yashwant Barde, Ulhas Gandhe, Anil Dandekar, K Srinivasan, and Pashchim Pathak.
5. Paul Reiffel (₹198k)
Paul Ronald Reiffel (born 19 April 1966) is an Australian former cricketer who played in 35 Tests and 92 One Day Internationals (ODIs) from 1992 to 1999. He was part of Australia’s victorious 1999 World Cup team. After retirement he became a first-class cricket umpire. He is currently a member of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires. Reiffel was a part of the Australian team that won the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
Reiffel made his first class umpiring debut in the 2004/2005 season after first umpiring in Melbourne grade cricket in 2002. Reiffel joined the Cricket Australia National Umpire’s Panel in the 2005/2006 season. In 2008, he became a member of the International Cricket Council International Panel of ICC Umpires, the first former Australian Test cricketer to do so. He made his international on-field umpiring debut in a One Day International match between Australia and New Zealand on 6 February 2009. He also umpired in both Tests of the West Indies-New Zealand Test Series in July–August 2012.
4. Nitin Menon (₹198k)
Nitin Narendra Menon (born 2 November 1983) is an cricketer and umpire. He was a right-handed batsman, representing Madhya Pradesh in List A cricket. He is now an umpire and has stood in matches in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy and the Sheffield Shield in Australia. In June 2020, he was promoted to the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, replacing Nigel Llong. His father Narendra Menon was also an umpire.
He stood in his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match between India and England on 26 January 2017. He stood in his first One Day International (ODI) match between Afghanistan and Ireland on 15 March 2017. In October 2018, he was named as one of the twelve on-field umpires for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20. He was the on-field umpire for the 2019 Indian Premier League Final along with Ian Gould.
3. Christopher Gaffaney (₹198k)
Christopher Blair Gaffaney (born 30 November 1975) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played for the Otago Volts. A right-handed batsman, he played in 83 First-Class matches and 113 List-A matches. At present he serves as an international cricket umpire. Gaffaney is currently a member of the ICC Elite umpire panel and officiates in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Gaffaney made his ODI umpiring debut in a match played between Canada and Ireland at Toronto in September 2010.
He served as an umpire on the ICC International Panel of Umpires and later stood in his first Test match in a game between Zimbabwe and South Africa at Harare in August 2014. Gaffaney was thereafter selected as one of the twenty umpires to stand in matches during the 2015 Cricket World Cup and stood in three matches as an on-field umpire during the tournament. A few months later he was elevated to the ICC Elite umpire panel for 2015–16 as a result of his several consistent performances
2. C. Shamshuddin (₹198k)
Chettithody Shamshuddin (born 22 March 1970) is an Indian cricket umpire. He is a member of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires in the on-field category and officiates in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Shamsuddin was appointed as the Indian representative to the International Panel of ICC Umpires in the third umpire category in 2013.
1. Anil Chaudhary (₹198k)
Anil Chaudhary (born 12 March 1965) is an Indian cricket umpire. He stood in his first Twenty20 International (T20I) on 10 October 2013, between India and Australia. He stood in his first One Day International (ODI) on 27 November 2013, between India and the West Indies. In January 2018, he was named as one of the seventeen on-field umpires for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
In January 2020, he was named as one of the sixteen umpires for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup tournament in South Africa. In January 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named him as one of the on-field umpires for the first Test match between India and England. On 5 February 2021, he stood in his first Test as an onfield umpire, between India and England.
