Lewandowski Is Man of the Year Again. Lewandowski, a striker for Bayern Munich, was again named the Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year, this time succeeding Messi. And now being recognised as world number one player.
Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich has been awarded The Best FIFA Men’s Player Award for the second year in succession, while Alexia Putellas of Spain won The Best FIFA Women Player Award for the first time.
In yet another year for the women’s game, awarded to Alexia Putellas and Robert Lewandowski, the FIFA World Cup holders completed a partnership with FIFA 18 on Xbox One through which gamers in 28 countries were able to receive one of 22 TOTW (Team of the Week) players. The partnership featured some marquee players including Manuel Neuer and Antoine Griezmann.
Edouard Mendy won the coveted award by being chosen as The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper for the 10th year in a row. Christiane Endler of Lyon was named The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper for showing off her spectacular displays.
The Best FIFA Football Awards are dedicated to honoring exceptional international performances in football, where landmark goalscoring records were broken this year.
Christine Sinclair and Cristiano Ronaldo with 188 goals over 308 caps for Canada and 115 goals over 184 for Portugal, respectively, are the two winners of The Best FIFA Special Award for women’s football and men’s football.
The Danish men’s national team medical team responded heroically after Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s match against Finland at UEFA EURO 2020; they gave CPR, removed cameras from the scene and consoled his wife and family.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino had the honor of presenting Christine Sinclair (the player who won her sixth FIFA world player of the year award by a huge margin) and Cristiano Ronaldo (who was awarded the Portugal manager of the year, despite his country not qualifying for World Cup) with their respective awards during The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony.
