The batsman is set to add another feather to his hat with England ground to be named after him. He is set to become the first Indian player to have a cricket ground with his name. England’s Leicester Cricket Ground is all set to be named after Sunil Gavaskar. Leicester Cricket will honor the former Indian skipper for his contribution to test cricket.

In an interview with TOI, Sunil Gavaskar says” I’m delighted that the ground in Leicester is going to be named after me. Leicester city is the strongest supporter of the game, especially Indian Cricket. Therefore it’s a huge honor indeed.”
According to reports by TOI, the initiative for this honor was taken by Keith Vaz, the UK who is of Indian descent. He has been serving in the Leicester legislature for 3 decades. Vaz says” We are honored that Gavaskar has agreed to have this pitch and ground named after him.”
