In Day 2 of the current Test in Dominica, veteran Indian wicketkeeper Legend Dinesh Karthik praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for scoring a Test century in her debut against the West Indies.
Following the conclusion of play on Day 2, Dinesh Karthik spoke with Cricbuzz on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s strategy.
Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma received praise from Karthik for putting up a fantastic opening pair. Added him:
Because of his excellent defence, He (Jaiswal) is batting on a different planet in many respects. He was greatly bothered in the morning by Rakheem Cornwall. But after going through that stage and making sure he didn’t lose his wicket, he seized the chance when it presented itself.
They scored 229 runs together for the opening wicket. KL and Mayank scored a hundred-run opening partnership the previous time it happened, which was at Centurion. 22 innings ago seems like a very long time ago. This might be the start of a remarkable collaboration as India’s first one.
Legend Dinesh Karthik discusses Rohit Sharma’s Test playing career
Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma have a close connection, and Dinesh is aware of Rohit’s struggles to establish himself as a Test cricketer in the beginning of his career.
Karthik, though, highlighted how remarkable Rohit has been ever since he started opening in Test cricket. In response, he said:
Since he (Rohit) performed well as an opener in white-ball cricket, he has opted to simply play the way he wants to in Test cricket. He stated that his goal in England was to leave as many balls as he could. That is his current frame of mind, his lucidity, and you can even say that tests are his strongest suit.
As a Test opener, Rohit Sharma has now scored seven hundreds in just 39 innings. Nothing short of amazing has been said about his comeback in Test cricket.
