After reaching a renewal deal with the Mavericks, rumours of Kyrie Irving becoming a Laker have finally come to an end. With a multi-year contract, it will take him some time to be a free agent again, but there are no guarantees when it comes to Irving.
Though there’s a feeling that a reunion with his former co-star, LeBron James isn’t entirely out of the question, even after returning to Dallas. Brian Windhorst revealed that King is still open to playing with Kyrie, speaking on sources, again if he moves to Los Angeles.
Windhorst also stated that he thinks LeBron is interested in playing with Kyrie Irving again. He also thinks he likes the idea of playing with Kyrie, the idea of playing with Kyrie and Anthony Davis. I’ve said for a long time that as far as full adjustment goes, LeBron is the best Big B ever.” The men’s pairing is Anthony Davis. I think the best guard pairing LeBron has ever had is Kyrie Irving.
Obviously, a great three-way team of Davis, LeBron and Irving is a dream scenario for the Lakers and will make them strong favorites to win the West. Unfortunately, this is an extremely unlikely scenario for Lakeshow, and they will have to make do with the people they have now.
Other Information To Know!
While many Lakers fans wanted to see Pelinka run for Kyrieor or Damian Lillard, his decision to prioritize depth and role players may have left them in a better place overall.
Instead of a heavy roster that relies on two or three players, the Lakers have a deep, versatile group that can adapt to any matchup. The Lakers might be in a better position with Kyrie in Dallas because we’ve already seen what they look like with a bad roster.
In a league where anything can happen, Irving may well end up in Los Angeles before his new contract expires, but LeBron isn’t thinking about that right now, and his team is already gearing up for the new season they already have, respectively.
