When questioned about the team’s staggering 23 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s 132-131 win over the Toronto Raptors, LeBron James was dismissive.
Anthony Davis, who scored 41 points to lead Los Angeles to victory, shot a perfect 11-of-11 from the charity line.
The Lakers were once again in the news for their high number of free throws.
The Lakers were 16/20 from the free-throw line at one point, while Toronto was granted two.
When asked about the free-throw calls, James had a straightforward response:
“I feel like they fouled and we didn’t,” LeBron said of the fourth-quarter free-throw disparity.
Overall, Los Angeles tried 36 free throws while Toronto attempted 13.
Davis was 13-of-14 in the 36, while LeBron James was 4-of-6. Taurean Prince and Cam Reddish both went 1-of-2 from the line, while Austin Reaves went 4-of-4.
While the reaction on social media was divided, James and the Lakers will be thrilled to get back to 500.
In the fourth quarter, there were many whistles, each of which resulted in Davis going to the free-throw line.
The Raptors clawed their way back into the game, and with a four-point lead with seconds to play, Pascal Siakam beat the buzzer with a three-pointer, but it wasn’t enough as LA triumphed by one point.

Although LeBron James enjoys a quiet day, Anthony Davis’ monster night leads the Lakers to victory
After not shooting for most of the first quarter, LeBron James heated up to finish with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.
The night, however, belonged to Anthony Davis, who finished with 41 points, 20 of which came in the final stretch.
He recorded 11 rebounds and six assists in the Lakers’ one-point victory.
Davis expressed relief to the reporters after the win, saying, “We’ll take it, we can do better, but obviously for us, that’s a big-time win.”
All of our people showed there and did an excellent job.
There will be a lot of focus on me and LeBron, which will give the others a lot of open shots and open plays.
We simply have to keep passing the ball to them and trusting them to make plays.
Scottie Barnes led the way for Toronto with 26 points, while Pascal Siakam ended with 25 and R.J. Barrett had 23.
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will now have a day off before hosting the Phoenix Suns for the fourth time this season.
They have held the upper hand in each of the three games thus far.
