The Lanka Chief Association (LPL) is a Twenty20 cricket contest in Sri Lanka. The Lanka Premier League (LPL) will hold its second championship in 2021. It was supposed to be Sri Lanka Cricket’s top Twenty20 league in the country. 2012 marked the start of its first season. The absence of sponsorship and organizational issues necessitated the cancellation of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the first season began on November 26, 2020, after being rescheduled numerous times.
The 2022 LPL is expected to take place in July and August of that year. The Jaffna Stallions, who won the inaugural season by defeating the Galle Gladiators by 53 runs in the final, currently hold the title. Competition Chief Ravin Wickramarathne said that they will be beginning to plan for their next competition perhaps in January, and expect to start the competition on 27 July and happen till 19 August with six groups.
They hope to modify some of the mandatory rules and introduce one Trinco team—a team from the eastern part of the country. They want to get two “A”-rated international icons onto each team.
