Lalit Modi did his schooling at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. Later he joined St Joseph’s College, Nainital. He got expelled from there due to a charge of truancy. Modi completed his electrical engineering and business administration in the United States. He studied at Pace University New York and Duke University North Carolina. But he didn’t graduate from any.
The career of Lalit Modi
We can best describe him as a rich businessman and cricket administrator. But now he is a fugitive from India. Lalit Modi remained the 1st Chairman and Commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Initially, Modi joined his family business in 1986. Later he served as the President of International Tobacco Company Limited (1987 to 1991). In the second half of 1989, he became Non-Executive & Non-Independent Director at Godfrey Phillips India.
It was a joint venture between Philip Morris International and Modi Enterprises. In 1992 he became Godfrey Phillips India’s executive director. He continued till 2010.
In Cricket Lalit started his career in the role of an adversary of the Indian cricket board. It was in the early 90s. At that time he was making effort to establish a business by distributing sports pay channels.

Personal Life Of Lalit Modi:
Lalit’s love life remained as interesting as his career. He dated Minal Sagrani who was 9 years elder than him and a divorcee.
Minal was earlier married to Nigeria-based Sindhi businessman, Jack Sagrani. She had a daughter from that marriage.
Minal was the daughter of daughter of Pesu Aswani. Her father was a Nigeria-based Sindhi Hindu businessman. The Modi family opposed this marriage but Lalit’s grandmother agreed to it.
They got married in 1991 in Mumbai. The couple got blessed with a son Ruchir Modi and a daughter Aliya.
Life was not that easy for the couple as they faced a social boycott in Delhi. Lalit lost Minal as she died of cancer in 2018.
Modi’s love life is again making headlines now. On 14th July 2022, he declared his relationship with former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen.
