Lakshya Sen is knocked out of the Hylo Open Badminton Tournament in the first round
In a match that lasted just 27 minutes in the first round, the 21-year-old Sen, a bronze medalist at the world championships and a Commonwealth Games champion, lost 12-21 5-21.
The Indian who was seeded seventh gave a dismal performance because his opponent outplayed him. The entire match, Sen had difficulty.
Sen relinquished the advantage when the score was tied at 2-2 in the opening game, and Angus comfortably overtook the Indian to take the lead at 1-0.
Sen’s performance in the second game was significantly worse as he let Angus score nine straight points at one point to win the game.
In the first round of the mixed doubles, the Chinese team of Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping defeated the Indian team of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto 13-21, 12-21.
Among the Indians competing in the Super 300 competition are Kidambi Srikanth, Sameer Verma, H. S. Prannoy, Saina Nehwal, Malvika Bansod, and the French Open champion team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.
Lakshya Sen, an Indian badminton player, was born on August 16, 2001. Sen was once the world’s best junior. He won gold medals in the boys’ singles event at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships and the mixed team event at the Summer Youth Olympics. In 2022, he came second at the All England Open and claimed bronze at the World Championships.Sen was a member of the Indian team that captured the 2022 Thomas Cup. In the men’s singles badminton competition at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, he also took home the gold medal.
