Korean Paralympians Welcome International President Andrew Parsons
Korean Paralympians Welcome International President Andrew Parsons: Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee, visited South Korea to attend the opening ceremonies of the first legacy venue for the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympics.
Parsons praised the effort to construct 150 Bandabi Sports Centers during the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, which is something close to daily life. The Buk-gu Bandabi Sports Center in Gwangju opened last Thursday and represents the first of these projects.
Parson expressed excitement about the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s ‘Paralympic Legacy’ project, which includes the Bandabi Sports Center. Parson believes that this project of accessible spaces that are inspiring and beneficial for people with disabilities will be a remarkable change for the community.
The Korea Paralympic Committee wants to help the Bandabi Sport Center in Buk-gu, Gwangju to become an operating model for all the sport centers in the country. Jung Jin-owan, President of the Korea Paralympic Committee, said this at a press conference yesterday.
He is determined to create a friendly environment for people with disabilities in Korea that will not hold them back and has met with the Chef de Mission of Pyeongchang 2018, Bae Dong-hyun, who was at the Balios Equestrian Club in Hwaseong.
With the aim of helping Jin-owan and Dong-hyun with their goal of further developing Para sports in South Korea, the IPC President promised to give them more assistance.
It was really nice to be in Korea during the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, Parsons said. In Korea, Paralympic sports have been developed not only because of the government but also because people like Mr. Bae are paying attention to social values. We are grateful for their active support of growing the impact of the Paralympic Movement in Korea-
As the president of the International Paralympic Committee, it is Andrew Parsons’ duty to keep track of all international competitions and oversee the preparations for future games. On August 16, he visited South Korea to attend the opening ceremony of Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games legacy venue – Buk-gu Bandabi Sports Center. The stadium will be used for wheelchair basketball, alpine skiing, sitting volleyball and curling during the upcoming Pyeongchang Games.
