Know about the industry report based on the security issues in professional sports by NCS4: The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security abbreviated as NCS4 has published the results on security issues. The outcomes of its Venue Security Director Survey are revealed in an industry report. This took place at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM).
The professional sports world faces a lot of unique challenges on its way back after a global pandemic. Many leagues, teams, and venues are in desperate search of ways to maintain or improve their safety measures. The survey was undertaken to examine security issues at professional sports venues, emerging threats, and technology solutions. Information that is extracted from this study will help venue managers. The venue managers might develop policies and raise awareness of technology solutions. The study can help them to identify resource needs. They can fill training gaps in order to help protect human, physical, and cyber assets.
“This release provides insight into operational and management trends in sports safety, as well as emerging threats and technology deployments,” said Dr. Stacey A Hall said. She is the NCS4 Managing Director and Professor of Sports Management.
“We are pleased with the research outcome and hope practitioners, academics, and technology solution providers will find value in the findings.”
The project to release the industry report was approved by USM’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). It reviews academic research which involves human subjects. This is undertaken to ensure it meets federal and university requirements.
The study was conducted among venue safety directors serving professional sports teams. The events included the National Football League, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer, and the National Hockey League. The study was divided into a few areas of focus. These were venue demographics, staffing and training, fan behavior, technology usage, customer screening, cybersecurity, and drone countermeasures.
The report reflects the opinions and recommendations of the industry. It shows industry resources.
“We are happy to share the results of NCS4‘s Venue Security Director Survey and hope this report will provide useful information and resources for venue security directors,” said Dr. Joslyn Zale who is NCS4 Senior Research Associate at NCS4.
The NCS4 produces and delivers research reports, and industry white papers. It hosts research seminars to educate and enlighten industry professionals and academics. They are educated about current safety issues, solutions, and best practices in sports.
