KL Rahul Cleared To Play, Will Lead Indian Team Against Zimbabwe: BCCI
KL Rahul Cleared To Play, Will Lead Indian Team Against Zimbabwe: India has been denied the chance to tour Zimbabwe in 2022 due to a knee injury sustained by veteran cricketer, KL Rahul.
Indian batsman Kl Rahul is ready to play in the upcoming three-match series against Zimbabwe. He will lead India in this three-match series and will be supported by Shikhar Dhawan, who was previously named the captain of the Indian side.
According to a BCCI statement, the medical team has concluded that KL Rahul, who suffered an injury during the Australia series, is fit to participate in the Zimbabwe ODIs. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has appointed him as captain of the Indian cricket squad and given Shikhar Dhawan his supporting deputy.
Rahul, who has been out since May 25 when he appeared in the Kolkata Chinnaswamy Stadium for India’s International Premier League match against Kenya on May 25, was announced as captain of the Indian cricket team for an upcoming series against South Africa. However, a right groin injury after India won the toss and elected to bat in the first match in New Delhi ruled him out of that game.
Rahul was going to return during India’s T20I series against West Indies, but he tested positive for Covid-19 before the tour. Because of this, he wasn’t included in the trip to the Caribbean.
Regis Chakabva has been appointed as captain of Zimbabwe and will lead them in the two ODI series. Not all the regular members of the Indian team have been rested in the ODI series against Zimbabwe. The first match will be played on August 18 while the last match is scheduled to be played on August 22 and 24.
Zimbabwe’s starting lineup for the series will be without Craig Ervine, who is still nursing a left hamstring tear. It’ll also lack Blessing Masudarabani, Tendai Chatara and Wellington Masakadza.
India’s squad for three One Day Internationals includes:
- KL Rahul (Captain)
- Shikhar Dhawan (Vice-Captain)

- Shubman Gill
- Deepak Hooda

- Ishan Kishan (CK)
