Keystone Leads Massachusetts From Start To Finish: Keystone’s 9-0 win against Massachusetts Canton was a telling indicator of the outcome after just one inning. Keystone scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning, putting away the game before chants for mercy could even ring out by two runs.
If Keystone wins, it advances to the Eastern Regional championship game on Tuesday at 10 a.m. If necessary, an “if” game is scheduled at 1 p.m. The Junior League World Series begins on August 14 and ends on August 21 in Taylor, Michigan.
Austin Frank hit an error before consecutive ground outs put him at third with two outs, but Keystone continued to play strong. Three walks after that string of hits needed more runs to come in and by the time Canton struck out the final battle of the inning, Keystone had built up an impressive 9-0 lead.
Aiden Jones pitched well on Monday morning as Canton was limited to just two hits in the ball game. Jack Norton could only muster one hit while Gavin Davis had one hit. It wasn’t until Davis’ single that Canton picked up a run and Jones kept the runs down for three innings.

A loss to Keystone knocks the West Virginia lumberjacks out of tournament contention. Jones went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and run scored and Nolan Cross was 1 for 3 with a triple, two walks and two runs scored. Blake Walker got a double. Cole Cooper and Darius Shade both hit singles and Hayes Miller had a single too.
In the top of the second, a ground out led off the inning and Probst crushed a deep double toward the left-field fence. A triple into center by Cross afterwards drove in Probst, and then Cross was driven in a player later when Jones hit a double into center.
Aiden Jones and Chris Pirrera were the offense’s top performers in a 17-0 shutout of Canton, Massachusetts. Aiden Ryan (6) and Riley Swearingen also contributed. The defense was led by a pair of steals from Austin Frank and Joseph Ryan. Graidy Carr had two assists to go with his two steals.
The top Keystone hitters were Watt Probst, who had four hits, at 4-4 with two RBIs and two runs; Aiden Jones similarly had three hits on 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Cole Cooper had one hit on 1-4 with one RBI and one run. Darius Shade had one hit on 1-4 with an RBI and a run as well. Blake Walker had 1-5 on 2B while Nolan Cross had a calmer game by plaing 3B, compiling also two RBIs in addition to 2 runs along the way.
