Earlier this week, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy Quarte-final between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, Gaikwad became the first batter in List A cricket history to score seven sixes in an over.
Gaikwad led his team to the event’s semi-finals with a double century.
In the ongoing 2022 Vijay Hazare trophy
Ruturaj Gaikwad made history by scoring an incredible double century in the quarterfinal match between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh on Monday (November 28).
Gaikwad’s effort made history by making him the first player in List A cricket history to hit seven sixes in one over. Gaikwad played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Shiva Singh, the UP bowler, was the target of Gaikwad’s assault, scoring 43 runs in the 49th innings, 42 of which came from Gaikwad’s bat and one was a no-ball.
Shiva received a motivational message
Shiva received a motivational message from Gaikwad following the game, in which he encouraged him to learn from England pacer Stuart Broad and recalled Yuvraj Singh’s 6 6s against him in the 2007 T20 Cup.
In the semi-final match against Assam, Gaikwad scored a century, scoring 168 runs in just 126 balls to help his team advance to the final.
Gaikwad claimed that the one against UP was superior when asked to choose between the two innings.
“While Assam’s bowlers deserve our respect, UP’s all-round attack was significantly superior.
Gaikwad stated,
“I would rate the innings against UP higher because we had lost two early wickets, it was my first comeback game after the injury, and it was also our first knockout game.”
Conundrum for Management:
With the ODI World Cup scheduled for the following year, the management and selectors are experiencing contented headaches.
KL Rahul serves as the team’s backup opener, and it appears unlikely that Ruturaj Gaikwad will play in the main event.
Ruturaj wants to win the championship for Maharashtra because it could make a big difference in whether India gets opportunities.
Sportstar caught Ruturaj Gaikwad talking to him, and he was asked about Shiva Singh, who hit seven sixes.
Ruturaj Gaikwad said:
He must have been depressed, which is understandable, but all I want to remind him of is that Stuart Broad has an outstanding career
And went for six sixes in an over in the 2007 World Twenty20, so there is a lesson for every bowler.
