Currently, Karman Preet Kaur is India’s no.1 single women’s tennis player, following the recent victory in Canada on Sunday at the W60 ITF event in Saguenay.
With her victory on the grand stage, she replaced Ankita Raina. This victory is the biggest title win of Karman’s career and it has pushed her to 91 ranks in the women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings to the 217th position after slipping down 13 places.
The top five women single player is Rutuja Bhosale who is down 9 positions to 411, Riya Bhatia at world number 490 after steeping down five places and Sahaja Yamalapalli, up by 20 spots to world ranking 508.
The year 2018 is the best year for Karman Kaur as she achieved the career-best ranking of 196. The glorious victory at Saguenay is Karman’s third single title and second this year. In 2018 Karman Kaur won her maiden single title in Hong Kong.
Back in Gurugram, she named one more title. she won a W25 Tournament back in June.
In the final match against Canada’s player named Katherine Sebov, Karman Kaur jumped back from being a set down to winning the title by 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Last month she shocked France player Chloe Paquet, then world no.109 in the opening round of the grand stage of the WTA Chennai open 2022and earned prestige for her great performance against the former Wimbledon Finalist and one of the best players Eugenie Bouchard in the second round.
