Jurgen Klopp Confirms Liverpool Are Considering Ending Subscription Loan Of Arthur Melo: Liverpool are considering terminating Arthur Melo’s loan after just two weeks, despite the Brazilian completing a season-long loan move to the club.
The Liverpool team signed the 26-year-old on deadline day to help them take over the midfield due to injuries, with Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all suffering from different injuries this season.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that the squad needed a midfielder and that he was confident in finding the right player. A short-term solution was Arthur, who was brought in to strengthen the midfield for the final weeks of the season. Liverpool are expected to keep their options open for a long-term successor next summer.
Liverpool may consider terminating Arthur’s loan in January, when they can find someone to take over. This information from Tuttomercatoweb was found in a report which said the 2021 transfer window would open during Abu Dhabi next week.
Klopp has zero confidence in Arthur and recommends he not be retained. He was left on the bench for Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday since playing the final 13 minutes of their 4-1 loss to Napoli a week prior.
Massimiliano Allegri doesn’t want to play Arthur if his loan is cancelled, which means he’s out of the squad. For two years, Arthur has been struggling to fulfill his potential since he was signed by Barcelona in July 2018; he’s only played 42 league games in Serie A since joining Juventus in June 2020.
Juventus confirm Liverpool have the option to sign Arthur on a permanent basis for £32.4million at the end of the season. The loan fee would be £3.9million, but it is not clear if Liverpool are able to cancel the agreement ahead of schedule.
Liverpool manager, Klopp said we should be patient with Arthur as he needs football and training for now. It was difficult for the Reds to make a game after the 6-1 humiliation at Napoli, when the future of Arthur was unclear.
