Much of Manchester City’s transfer discussion this season will revolve as far as how Erling Haaland fits in at the Etihad Stadium, but don’t forget the club has another talented forward on the way. Check out complete details about it below.
Julian Alvarez to join Manchester City
Julian Alvarez of River Plate will finally arrive in Manchester this weekend after staying on loan at River Plate after his £14 million deal to City last January.
The 22-year-old is widely respected and drew attention since May after he scored six goals for River in an 8-1 Copa Libertadores triumph against Allianz Lima.
Manchester City supporters will be hoping he forms a lethal partnership with Haaland at the Etihad, but what should they anticipate from their fresh young striker?
Alvarez’s spectacular six-goal performance against Allianz Lima back in May dispelled any qualms that Man City supporters may have had about him.
All three of River Plate’s goals were scored by Alvarez in the first 45 minutes, and he grabbed more goals against their Peruvian opponents on minutes 54, 57, and 83.
Alvarez scored 24 goals across all games in 2021, and he added 17 goals in 26 games for River in 2022.
In the 121-year history of the team, the striker’s double hat-trick earned him the first player to score six goals in a single game; if he can join fellow newcomer Haaland in the team, he will now be looking to break further Manchester City records.
A forward for both the Argentina national team and Premier League club Manchester City, Julian Alvarez is an Argentine professional football player. His primary role as a forward is as a striker, though he can also play the wing.
