Jules Kounde set to join Barcelona
The last week saw a number of transactions come to fruition and a flurry of rumours go viral online. The fans have been glued to their seats throughout this transfer season, which has more surprises in store than your typical pulp thriller.
Barcelona has made no indication that it is a team that is reportedly struggling financially if you look at the club’s transfers this season. As defender Jules Kounde arrived from Sevilla on a five-year contract on July 29, the Catalan club added another player to their already impressive roster.
The amount agreed upon is 55 million euros ($55.82 million), according to media sources, even though the deal’s financial terms were not made public.
A number of proposals were made by Chelsea, who were very interested in the player, but finally fell short when Barcelona stepped in and presented him with a deal he simply could not refuse.
Speaking of the Catalan-based team, Luis Suarez, a former player for Barcelona who was playing for Atletico Madrid’s rivals up until last season, has signed with Nacional in his home country of Uruguay.
Didier Deschamps chose Koundé to be one of the 26 players who made up the France national team for UEFA Euro 2020 on May 18, 2021. At halftime of a friendly match against Wales on June 2, 2021, he entered the game in place of Benjamin Pavard.
