Till the final year of high school his performance improved, he had an average of16.5 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. During his final year of high school, he was honored with a place on the Oklahoma Coaches Association all-state team.
His great performances there helped him enroll in the University of Tennessee that started his journey to the NBA. With his college team ” Volunteers” he played for 4 seasons. During these seasons he had an average of 9.2 points, 1.8 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. In his senior year, he had an average of 16 points per game. In 2015, the Miami Heat picked him in the NBA draft, later to be signed officially by them. He made his debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
