Josh Brown, who opened for the Brisbane Heat, nearly single-handedly guided his club to the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023–24 championship as he amassed an astounding 140 runs off of only 57 balls in the Challenger match against the Adelaide Strikers.
Along the way, Brown set a few milestones. He was the first player to hit 12 sixes in a BBL inning. In addition, with 140, he has the best individual score in a BBL playoff game and ranks third all-time in league history, behind only Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell.

Following the amazing knock, Josh Brown told the press candidly, “It hasn’t stopped.” It’s still not really sinking in for me. I’m rather worn out. Doing it in the final was really special—both for the team and myself. It seemed strange to perform like I did in a stressful game.”
In addition, he talked about his mother, who was sitting in the bleachers.
“It was very special, they know how hard I worked to get to where I am now,” Brown stated.
Brown asserted that he was able to perform at his peak because of Brisbane Heat assistant coach Darren Lehmann’s instruction to slow down his bat stroke.
Brown’s hit put the Heat up 214–7, which was too much for the Strikers to handle as they were bowled out for 160 in response.
Josh Brown was naturally worn out after the amazing knock and also developed a hip ache as a result. He is optimistic that he will be ready for the Wednesday, January 24 summit game against the Sydney Sixers.
